ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall across Pakistan from August 29 to September 2, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous regions.
The Meteorological Department forecast rain in Islamabad from Saturday to Tuesday, in northern and northeastern Punjab on Sunday and Monday, and in central and southern Punjab from August 29 to 31. Karachi is expected to receive rain between August 30 and September 2, with urban flooding feared.
NDMA also cautioned of severe rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Sindh, and Balochistan. It directed local administrations and rescue agencies to stay on high alert and urged citizens to take safety precautions.
