SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: The powerful explosion struck Rustam Bazaar by Fitna Al Kawarij in Wana, South Waziristan leaving at least two civilians dead and more than 20 others injured.
The blast targeted a busy area of the market where civilians and passersby were present at the time of the incident. In this regard, among the injured are several ordinary pedestrians who happened to be near the site when the explosion occurred.
In this sense, the rescue teams and security personnel quickly reached the scene after the explosion. The injured were shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while emergency responders continued relief operations in the area.
The incident comes just a day after another deadly explosion in Miran Shah, where a vehicle laden with explosives detonated in a public area.
Meanwhile, the local residents expressed deep concern over the repeated incidents targeting public spaces and civilian gatherings. So far, the community leaders have urged authorities to strengthen security measures in marketplaces and crowded areas to prevent further attacks.
The relevant authorities have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
