QUETTA : In the aftermath of a tragic bomb blast at the Shahwani Stadium on Tuesday evening, which resulted in multiple casualties, a coordinated disinformation campaign has been launched on social media by Fitna Al-Hindustan.
As is often the case following such incidents, certain accounts, particularly on platform X, have been identified as spreading anti-state rhetoric and false propaganda. These accounts, which are associated with and support the proscribed militant organization Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), have sought to exploit the tragedy.
Analysts note that these campaigns, suspected to be backed by external actors seeking to destabilize Pakistan, aim to distort the narrative and shift blame for the violence caused by the militants themselves onto state institutions. This strategy is seen as an attempt to deflect from the atrocities committed by these groups against innocent civilians.
The state’s security institutions remain focused on their investigation into the blast and on providing relief, while also monitoring and countering these malicious online campaigns that threaten national unity.
