Agreement signed for launch of fishmeal plant in Gwadar

Gwadar: TEGNO and May Com have signed an agreement to establish a fishmeal plant in Gwadar with an investment of 12 million dollars.

The project will be completed in two phases, with the first phase targeting an annual production of 15,000 tons.

The fishmeal and fish oil produced at the factory will be exported to China’s aquaculture industry.

Officials stated that the project will not only boost Pakistan’s coastal economy but also further strengthen Pakistan–China trade relations.

The fishing industry remains the primary source of livelihood for thousands of families in Gwadar, contributing significantly to the region’s economy.

With its rich marine resources, Gwadar supplies a large quantity of fish not only to different parts of Pakistan but also to international markets.

The fishing community depends heavily on seasonal catches, which form the basis of their income and sustenance.

Experts highlight that the fishing sector plays a key role in strengthening the local economy by generating employment, supporting small businesses, and contributing to national exports.

Recent initiatives, including the establishment of modern fishmeal plants and processing units, are expected to further boost exports and create new opportunities for fishermen.
