CM Bugti hails launch of first-ever working women’s hostel in Khuzdar

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has applauded the inauguration of the first working women's hostel in Khuzdar district.

QUETTA: In a significant move for gender equity, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has applauded the inauguration of the first working women’s hostel in Khuzdar district. He described the initiative as a matter of pride and a foundational step toward the real empowerment of women in Balochistan.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister stated that the facility does more than just provide safe and affordable accommodation; it serves as a source of confidence, dignity, and hope for the sisters and daughters of the province pursuing professional careers away from home. He emphasized, “This is the very approach that marks the beginning of true women’s empowerment”.

CM Bugti specifically commended the efforts of Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, Adviser for Women Development, for spearheading the project. He praised her work as a “practical and meaningful effort” to support Balochistan’s working women.

The hostel addresses a critical need for secure housing in the traditionally conservative region and is expected to significantly boost women’s participation in the formal workforce. Reaffirming his government’s commitment, CM Bugti stated that the Balochistan government will continue to take policy-level steps to enhance women’s welfare, education, and employment opportunities, ensuring they can confidently utilize their capabilities in every field.

This initiative is part of a broader push for women’s empowerment under the current government, which recently also launched the Women Economic Empowerment Endowment Fund to provide financial independence to skilled women across the province.

While addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Balochistan Grand Tourism Festival, the Chief Minister congratulated the people of the province and appreciated the successful organization of the event.

Speaking to the media, he praised the efforts of the Culture Department, Parliamentary Secretary Zareen Khan Magsi, and the Secretary of Culture for their dedication in making the festival a success.

He stated that the festival highlighted the positive image of Balochistan across Pakistan and effectively showcased the province’s rich history and culture.

CM Bugti further added that the government welcomes investment in Balochistan through public-private partnerships, emphasizing that the province’s coasts, mountains, and hospitality await tourists with open arms.

Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province by area, is home to stunning natural beauty, including the Makran coastline, Hingol National Park, Ziarat Valley, Kund Malir Beach, and the majestic mountain ranges of Quetta and Kalat. Despite its immense potential, the region’s tourism industry remains underdeveloped due to limited infrastructure and accessibility.

In recent years, the provincial government has focused on improving roads, promoting eco-tourism, and organizing cultural festivals to attract both domestic and international tourists.

With growing attention to its cultural heritage and scenic diversity, Balochistan is steadily emerging as Pakistan’s next major tourism destination.
