BOLAN: Unknown assailants opened fire on a pilot engine near the Kolpur area of Bolan district, railway authorities confirmed on Monday.
The engine, which was carrying a driver and an assistant driver, came under attack while passing through the area. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the engine remained undamaged.
According to officials, the attackers fled the scene before security personnel could arrive.
Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, railway operations in the region continue under tightened security.
The banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), an Indian-backed terrorist outfit, has repeatedly targeted railway infrastructure in Balochistan to disrupt connectivity and economic activity.
In recent attacks, BLA militants have opened fire on trains and railway personnel, particularly in volatile areas like Bolan and Dera Bugti, aiming to sabotage national transport routes and instill fear among workers and passengers.
Security forces have since tightened surveillance and launched operations to neutralize these threats.
