QUETTA: A massive fire broke out at a privately owned commercial plaza on Prince Road in Quetta on Tuesday, gutting dozens of shops as firefighters and disaster management teams continued efforts to bring the blaze under control, officials said.
According to rescue authorities, six fire brigade vehicles and four units from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) are engaged in firefighting operations, but the fire has yet to be fully contained.
PDMA officials said fire balls are being used to help control the flames, as thick smoke continues to billow from the multi-storey building.
Rescue officials said the plaza, known as Achakzai Plaza, houses computer, mobile phone, garments and other retail outlets, raising concerns over significant financial losses. No casualties have been reported so far.
