RAWALPINDI: In Rawalpindi, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a high-level meeting with Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, the Foreign minister of Egypt, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defense collaboration between Pakistan and Egypt.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the discussions focused on enhancing bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of defense and security cooperation, military-to-military engagement, joint training programs, and efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of deepening long-standing relations and boosting coordination in defense and broader strategic domains.
During the meeting, the Egyptian foreign minister conveyed warm greetings from Egypt’s leadership and expressed Cairo’s strong interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan across multiple sectors.
Both sides also agreed that maintaining continuous high-level engagement is essential to effectively address emerging security challenges in the evolving regional environment.
Pakistan and Iran share deep-rooted historical, religious, and cultural ties, and both countries continue to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.
Key areas of collaboration include border security and counter-terrorism, where both sides coordinate to prevent cross-border crime, militancy, and smuggling.
In the economic sector, Pakistan and Iran are working to expand bilateral trade, energy cooperation, and connectivity projects, including electricity import, gas pipeline initiatives, and regional trade routes. Cooperation also exists in transport, agriculture, and industrial development to boost regional economic stability.
Both countries actively engage in diplomatic coordination, regional peace efforts, and international forums, while also promoting religious tourism, cultural exchanges, education, and people-to-people contacts.
Defense cooperation, intelligence sharing, and joint security mechanisms further strengthen mutual trust and regional stability.
