Field Marshal vows Marka-i-Haq-like defeat for Indian proxies in Balochistan

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Asim Munir on Wednesday reaffirmed the military’s resolve to eliminate Indian proxies — Fitna al Hindustan in Balochistan and Fitna al Khawarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief was speaking to a group of stakeholders at the 16th National Workshop in Balochistan.

“[The] COAS resolutely reaffirmed Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to uproot the menace of terrorism and [the] inevitability of socio-economic uplift of Balochistan for national cohesion and integration,” the statement said.

Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) decision to end its ceasefire with the government in November 2022 and align itself with Indian proxies operating in Balochistan.

Field Marshal Munir also highlighted the recent military escalation with India. He condemned New Delhi for sponsoring terror proxies and described this strategy as a failed attempt to weaken the deep-rooted patriotism of the people of Balochistan.

The two countries faced a brief but intense conflict after India, without evidence, blamed Pakistan for the April 22 Pahalgam attack. In retaliation, India launched air strikes on May 6–7 that resulted in civilian deaths, prompting a week-long missile exchange. A U.S.-brokered ceasefire eventually brought the hostilities to an end.

The Army Chief explained that India, after facing a decisive defeat in Marka-i-Haq — the period of conflict from April 22 to May 10 — has now intensified its proxy war to advance its hostile agenda. He accused New Delhi of using Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan — terms used for the TTP and Balochistan-based terror outfits — as instruments of hybrid warfare against Pakistan.

“These proxies will meet the same fate and humiliation as in Marka-i-Haq,” the ISPR quoted the COAS as saying.

The Field Marshal further stressed that terrorists recognize no boundaries of religion, sect, or ethnicity, which demands a unified and robust national response. He urged all sectors of society to show collective resolve in confronting this threat.

He also emphasized the importance of development initiatives in Balochistan and called for stronger inter-agency coordination and a cohesive national strategy to drive both provincial and national progress.

While reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, the Army Chief underscored the military’s readiness to decisively counter any internal or external threats and to protect national dignity and the well-being of its citizens.
