ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday visited flood relief camps in Kasur Sector and Jalalpur Pirwala (Multan) to review the flood situation and ongoing relief efforts.
During the visit, officials briefed the Army Chief on rescue and relief operations. He stressed to the civil administration the importance of good governance and development focused on public welfare. “We cannot afford the recurring loss of precious lives and property every year. Infrastructure development and flood prevention measures must be accelerated,” he said.
Field Marshal Munir met with flood-affected families and assured them of full support and timely rehabilitation. The victims expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Pakistan Army for its swift assistance.
He also lauded the dedication of Army troops, Rescue 1122 personnel and police officers engaged in relief operations. “The joint efforts of civil and military institutions represent the best example of public service,” he noted.
Later, the Army Chief conducted an aerial survey of flood-hit areas in Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala to directly assess the damage and relief activities.

Corps Commander Lahore and Corps Commander Multan received the Army Chief on arrival. Punjab’s Chief Secretary and other senior civil administration officials were also present.
