Field Marshal Tops Google Trends Amid US-Iran Diplomacy Push

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, emerged as the most-searched personality on Google Trends over the past 24 hours, as Pakistan gained global attention for its reported diplomatic role in the Middle East crisis.

The surge followed reports that Pakistan is actively engaging in efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran. Observers said the trend reflects Islamabad’s growing visibility in fast-moving diplomatic developments.

The White House confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump recently held a call with Munir, signaling high-level engagement. Media reports said Washington has conveyed 15-points proposals to Tehran through intermediaries, though details remain unconfirmed.

Trump said negotiations with Iran are “underway,” even as both sides deny formal talks. He said senior U.S. officials, including JD Vance, Marco Rubio, envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, are involved in the process.

Iran confirmed it has received proposals through intermediaries but rejected claims of formal negotiations. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said messages outlining potential talks have been exchanged.

Trump said he remains cautious but pointed to a “significant” oil- and gas-related gesture from Tehran as a positive signal. He did not provide further details.

The White House said US military operations against Iran continue. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said operations are ongoing alongside diplomatic efforts.

Separately, Pakistan offered to host talks between Washington and Tehran. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Islamabad is ready to facilitate “meaningful and conclusive” dialogue if both sides agree.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi reiterated support for a diplomatic solution and urged restraint.

Pakistan has intensified outreach efforts. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with his Iranian counterpart, while Sharif spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to support de-escalation.

The conflict escalated after U.S. and Israeli strikes targeted Iranian leadership. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on U.S. and Israeli assets in the region.
