WASHINGTON: Field Marshal Hafiz Syed Asim Munir has begun a historic meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
The meeting is taking place in the Cabinet Room, where President Trump hosted a luncheon in honor of the Pakistani Army Chief. During his visit, Field Marshal Munir is also expected to meet U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Cobio and Defense official Pete Hegseth.
This meeting holds special significance due to its geopolitical backdrop. Following the mysterious incident in Pahalgam, tensions between India and Pakistan escalated, with Indian civil and military leadership issuing threats of war.
Upon assuming command, the Pakistani Army Chief responded firmly to India’s aggressive rhetoric.
He led Pakistan’s military response with outstanding strategic, combat, and intelligence capabilities. Under his leadership, Pakistan not only downed Indian fighter jets but also successfully targeted Indian military installations, including airfields and missile storage systems.
The swift and forceful retaliation inflicted significant losses, compelling India to request a ceasefire within hours.
Field Marshal Munir’s actions earned widespread acclaim in the American and European media, which acknowledged Pakistan’s military superiority in the conflict.
In France, questions were raised about the Indian Air Force’s capabilities after their jets were shot down.
In India, opposition parties criticized both the civil and military leadership, demanding accountability.

The Modi government faced intense backlash, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi mockingly labeled “Surrender Modi” for seeking a ceasefire. Global analysts agree that Pakistan’s military success in this confrontation elevated its strategic standing internationally, while India suffered a significant setback.
