RIYADH: Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defence and a member of the royal family, met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Riyadh for high-level talks on defense cooperation and regional security.
The meeting focused on strengthening military ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Both sides also discussed the evolving security situation in the region.
Officials held detailed discussions on recent attacks attributed to Iran against Saudi Arabia. The issue came up in the context of the strategic defense understanding between Riyadh and Islamabad.
Both sides said such actions threaten regional peace and stability. They stressed the urgent need to reduce tensions.
The two leaders expressed hope that the Iranian leadership would act with prudence and avoid decisions that could lead to miscalculation or unnecessary confrontation.
They agreed that diplomacy and responsible conduct must remain the primary path to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Saudi Chief of General Staff Fayyad bin Hamed Al‑Ruwaili and the defense minister’s adviser for intelligence, Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif, attended the meeting.
