Field Marshal highlights National Security, ideology, and education at Ulema Conference

ISLAMABAD: The Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, delivered a comprehensive and wide-ranging address at the National Ulema and Mashaykh Conference in Islamabad, calling for unity, intellectual renewal, and firm resolve to confront the challenges facing Pakistan.

Furthermore, the Field Marshal spoke at length on key national issues, including terrorism, internal and external security, regional dynamics, and the importance of sustained military preparedness.

He also underlined the critical role of knowledge, education, and moral values in strengthening national resilience and social cohesion.

Moreover, Field Marshal Asim Munir outlined what he described as a principled and faith-based vision for Pakistan’s ideological and strategic direction. He noted that among the 57 Islamic countries, Pakistan has been entrusted with the honour of safeguarding the Haramain Sharifain, a responsibility he termed both sacred and historic.

He said this recognition indicates Pakistan’s deep spiritual connection with the Muslim world and its strong defense and diplomatic relations, particularly with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In this regard, the Army Chief said Pakistan’s international standing has improved in recent years, citing Operation Bunyan-e-Marsous as a demonstration of national resolve and military capability.

He stated that Pakistan remains committed to protecting its sovereignty, holy sites, and regional stability through responsible defense policies and close coordination between state institutions.

Meanwhile, Field Marshal Asim Munir observed that the ideological foundations of the State of Madinah and Pakistan are rooted in the Kalima-e-Tayyaba, highlighting the moral responsibilities that accompany this legacy.

He also referred to Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, saying it reinforced faith-driven determination during a challenging security environment.

He focused on that Pakistan faces complex threats on both its eastern and western borders and must continue to modernize its defense capabilities. He confirmed that the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to counter both conventional and unconventional threats.

Meanwhile, the Field Marshal stated that terrorism emanating from across the border, particularly from groups such as the TTP, poses a direct challenge to Pakistan’s writ.

He stressed that only the state has the authority to declare jihad and warned against the misuse of religious concepts by non-state actors.
