Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to peace, counterterrorism

RAWALPINDI:  Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, counterterrorism, and economic growth during his official visit to the United States.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media affairs wing of the Pakistan Army, Field Marshal met senior scholars, analysts, policy experts, and international media representatives in Washington D.C. He engaged in a candid and wide-ranging discussion on regional and global affairs.

Field Marshal emphasised Pakistan’s firm stance on regional peace and its role in maintaining global stability. He highlighted the country’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and its commitment to a rules-based international order.

Field Marshal Munir discussed the influence of hostile regional actors using terrorism as a tool of hybrid warfare. He elaborated on Pakistan’s counterterrorism operations, including Maarka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.

He pointed to Pakistan’s untapped potential in IT, agriculture, and mineral resources. He invited global partners to invest in these areas and unlock mutual economic growth.

Asim Munir also outlined Pakistan’s balanced foreign policy. He stressed the need for diplomacy, dialogue, and adherence to international law. He said Pakistan remains a responsible actor and promotes cooperative security in the region.

He reviewed the Pakistan–U.S. partnership and its historical convergence on counterterrorism, regional security, and economic ties. He called for a broader and deeper relationship based on mutual respect and shared interests.

Participants welcomed the clarity of his views. They praised Pakistan’s consistent policies and saw the interaction as a positive step toward stronger Pakistan–U.S. strategic dialogue.
