The issue of fake passport issuance in Balochistan has remained a serious national security and governance challenge in recent years.

Investigations have revealed that in some cases, forged identity documents and illegally obtained records were used to acquire Pakistani passports.

Since passport issuance is closely linked with the national identity database, the role of NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) has come under scrutiny during several investigations.

Fake passports are often obtained through fraudulent identity cards, manipulation of biometric data, or illegal facilitation by corrupt officials and middlemen.

These fake documents have reportedly been used for illegal migration, human trafficking, financial crimes, and in some cases, activities linked to terrorism and organized crime.

Due to Balochistan’s sensitive border regions and migration routes, the misuse of identity documents poses serious risks to both national and international security.

The government of Pakistan has taken action against those involved in these networks by conducting inquiries, suspending officials, and strengthening monitoring systems within NADRA and passport offices.

Biometric verification processes have been upgraded, and stricter scrutiny has been introduced for identity verification, especially in border districts.

Despite these measures, experts stress that stronger accountability, improved digital security, and public awareness are essential to fully eliminate the fake passport menace.

Ensuring transparent procedures and eliminating corruption at every level remain key to protecting Pakistan’s identity system and international credibility.
