FIA arrests six suspects involved in hawala transactions, millions in currency seized

QUETTA: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Balochistan circle has arrested six suspects involved in hawala transactions and illegal currency exchange, on Thursday.

According to details, the FIA team recovered 1.7 million Iranian rials, 4,470 Afghanis, 300,000 Pakistani rupees, 1,000 Emirati dirhams, 51,000 Japanese yen, and 101 US dollars during the raids conducted in different areas of Quetta and Chaman districts.

The FIA Balochistan zone tightened the net on networks involved in hawala and illegal currency exchange. As a result, six individuals identified as Muhammad Zakaria, Nida Muhammad, Nazar Jan, Saeed Khan, Muhammad Yousuf, and Atiq Muhammad were arrested during the raids.

FIA officials confirmed that they also recovered mobile phones, registers, and other evidence used in the hawala operations. The suspects failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the seized money.
