FIA arrests 56 people attempting to cross into Iran

Quetta: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Balochistan has arrested 56 individuals, including Afghan nationals, during multiple operations in Jiwani while they were attempting to illegally cross into Iran via sea routes.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the Composite Circle Gwadar conducted the operations in Jiwani and detained 56 people, including two Afghan citizens.

Among the arrested, 16 were from Mandi Bahauddin, 13 from Gujranwala, 8 from Gujrat, 2 from Sheikhupura, 5 from Muzaffargarh, 3 from Bahawalpur, 2 from Bajaur, and 5 others belonged to Sargodha, Karachi, Sanghar, Hafizabad, and Khanewal.

During initial interrogation, the detainees admitted they were planning to travel illegally to Iran and from there move onward to other countries.

The FIA has registered cases against them and initiated further legal proceedings.

It is worth noting that several attempts to cross into Iran illegally via Balochistan’s coastal areas have been reported in recent days.

Just yesterday, 14 people were arrested in Gwadar for attempting the same.

On Sunday, 24 individuals were detained from Jiwani’s coastal belt while trying to enter Iran.

Considering the current security situation in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Iran’s Sistan-Balochistan province, authorities from both countries have emphasized strengthening border cooperation to curb infiltration.
