ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to restructure and expand the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into a countrywide federal force. The ordinance will soon be issued to amend the Frontier Constabulary Act of 1915, enabling the transformation of the provincial force into a centralized law enforcement entity named the “Federal Constabulary.” The decision follows the federal cabinet’s approval of key amendments to the century-old legislation.
Once the ordinance is promulgated, the newly formed Federal Constabulary will have jurisdiction across all four provinces, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, as well as the federal capital, Islamabad, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The new setup also includes nationwide recruitment drives, aimed at building a diverse and inclusive force. The initiative is part of broader efforts by the federal government to centralize and streamline security operations across the country, amid evolving security threats and increasing demands for coordinated law enforcement responses.
