KHUZDAR: The Frontier Corps (FC) Qalat Scouts carried out a successful operation in Khuzdar, seizing and destroying a massive quantity of illegal betel nut. The operation indicates the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards unlawful trade and harmful substances that pose risks to public health and the economy.
The operation was conducted after intelligence reports confirmed the presence of a large stockpile of contraband in the area. Furthermore, FC personnel intercepted and confiscated the consignment, preventing its circulation in local markets. The seized material was subsequently destroyed in line with legal protocols.
Moreover, the authorities stated that betel nut smuggling not only undermines public health but also contributes to illegal economic activity. The crackdown comes amid broader efforts by law enforcement agencies to strengthen border management and disrupt smuggling networks operating in the province.
However, the community leaders and citizens have also expressed support for the operation, noting that unchecked availability of banned substances, such as betel nut, has long posed health hazards and negatively influenced the youth.
In this sense, Balochistan, due to its geographical location, has often been exploited by smuggling networks.
