WEB DESK: Pakistan batsman Sahibzada Farhan has said his team will treat Sunday’s T20 World Cup match against India as a “normal” game, drawing confidence from their winning start to the tournament.
Speaking in Colombo after Pakistan’s victory over the USA, the opener said scoring 190 runs on a good pitch provided a major boost. “When you score runs, it gives you confidence,” he stated, adding the team has been playing well for months and will carry the momentum from two wins into the India clash.
COLOMBO – Pakistan opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan has struck a calm and confident tone ahead of the high-voltage T20 World Cup clash against arch-rivals India this Sunday, insisting his team will treat it as a “normal match” and rely on their recent form.
Speaking at a press conference here following Pakistan’s convincing victory over the USA, which secured their second consecutive win in the tournament, Farhan reflected on the team’s performance. “The pitch was good, scoring 190 runs was a big deal,” he said, referring to their strong batting display. The aggressive right-hander emphasized the psychological boost of scoring runs, stating, “When you score runs, it gives you confidence.”
Farhan highlighted that the team’s consistent performances over the past half-year have built a solid foundation. “You have been playing good cricket continuously for five to six months, you will take the confidence of winning two matches in the match against India,” he affirmed. This winning momentum, he suggested, is the key asset Pakistan will carry into the marquee fixture.
Addressing the inevitable pressure of an India-Pakistan encounter, Farhan pointed to their recent close contest in the Asia Cup as a source of belief, despite the loss. “It will be a normal match on Sunday and we will play the same way,” he stated, underscoring a philosophy focused on process over occasion.
Pakistan, having triumphed in both their initial T20 World Cup matches, will face an Indian team also in strong form this Sunday in a match that is expected to be one of the most-watched sporting events of the year.
Farhan recalled that Pakistan competed hard in a close Asia Cup match against India and ultimately lost. He downplayed the rivalry’s pressure, insisting, “It will be a normal match on Sunday and we will play the same way.” Pakistan has won both its opening T20 World Cup matches ahead of the highly anticipated fixture this Sunday.
