Fake news alert: Balochistan CM–President meeting rumors declared baseless

ISLAMABAD: There are reports circulating on social media falsely claiming that Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti travelled to Dubai to seek a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari in an effort to “save his position.” As per these posts, the President allegedly refused to meet the Chief Minister, and several Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPAs conveyed grievances against him.

However, sources close to the situation have categorically rejected these claims. In this regard, while speaking to Burraq Baloch, reliable sources confirmed that the reports are entirely fabricated and that no meeting planned or unplanned took place between Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and President Asif Ali Zardari regarding any political matter.

Furthermore, the false narrative alleges that the Chief Minister requested an urgent appointment with the President during a private visit to Dubai, but his request was turned down.

It further claimed that President Zardari and several PPP members in Balochistan expressed dissatisfaction with the Chief Minister’s performance. These assertions, sources insist, have no basis in fact.

In addition, the government officials familiar with provincial affairs emphasize that such misinformation appears to be part of a coordinated attempt to create political instability and fuel speculation within Balochistan’s political landscape.

They note that neither the President nor the Chief Minister has issued any statement indicating friction or disagreement. Chief Minister Bugti has not held discussions with President Zardari on any of the issues mentioned in the viral posts.

In this sense, the sources stress that the Chief Minister’s engagements and travel schedule in recent days were unrelated to political maneuvering or attempts to retain office.

Meanwhile, no official record or credible evidence supports claims of any conflict between the Balochistan Chief Minister and the President. Government sources confirm that routine political communication between federal and provincial leadership continues uninterrupted.

The public is advised to rely on official announcements and credible news platforms, rather than unverified social media posts, to avoid the spread of misleading or harmful narratives.
