ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda has claimed that former ISI director general Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed will testify against PTI founder Imran Khan in the May 9 cases based on “available evidence.”
Speaking on a private TV channel, Vawda said there was “no ambiguity left” and it was now “clearly visible” that Faiz Hameed would appear as a witness.
He said all those involved in the May 9 violence would face punishment. He added that the 14-year jail term awarded to Faiz Hameed related to only one case and four specific charges.
Vawda stated that Imran Khan’s desire to appoint Faiz Hameed as army chief would have benefited only Khan and not the state.
He said the former spymaster’s conviction marked “the beginning of major consequences.” According to him, Faiz Hameed also had a role in planning and executing the May 9 incidents, and the question of who stood to benefit was “no secret.”
The senator said PTI expelled him a year before the riots because he repeatedly warned the party that it was walking into a “trap” from which it could not return.
He said Faiz Hameed had full legal right to appeal but insisted the situation regarding his testimony was “absolutely clear.”

Commenting on the military leadership, Vawda said the army under Field Marshal Asim Munir had defeated a “major enemy.” He added that the army chief could forgive personal matters but would not compromise on issues concerning Pakistan, the martyrs, or the military.
