Fact Check: Indian propaganda uses own jet crash video to target Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Amid Indian’s repeated propaganda following the Pahalgam attack, a video showing a fighter jet caught massive fire has gone viral on the social media platform X, formerly known as X.

Many Indian-based accounts on social media claimed that the Indian Air Force had shot down Pakistan’s F16 plane entering Indian airspace.

This 10-second-long video features a jet that has caught fire in an open field.

The video was shared with captions like ‘Diwali begins now’ and ‘Indian Air Force shoots down Pakistan F-16 jet.

The Burak News Fact Check, however, has found that the video that Indian propaganda accounts are sharing to spread the false news of Pakistan’s F16 plane being shot down is actually a video of an Indian Sukhoi 30 plane crash in Nashik city of India.  The video is a year old, from June 2024.
