Expose BYC’s narrative and the realities on ground

QUETTA: Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) on social media platforms paints a dramatic and one-sided picture of events involving the, accusing the state of “genocide,” “torture,” and “illegal detentions,” such claims are gaining traction in echo chambers online, it is crucial to analyze these narratives through a factual and national security lens.

The BYC, under the leadership of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, has been consistently involved in activities that challenge the constitutional framework and internal stability of Pakistan. The Committee, while projecting itself as a peaceful human organization, has often acted as a platform for anti-state rhetoric and inflammatory mobilizations.

On the other hand, the claims of ”peaceful resistance,” the BYC’s so-called political movements have repeatedly led to the breakdown of law and order in Balochistan and other parts of the country. The ”Baloch Long March” in December 2023 and the ”Baloch Raaji Muchi” gathering on July 28, 2024, were not mere protests.

These events were marred by provocation, road blockades, and aggressive confrontations with law enforcement.

The tragic loss of lives and injuries in these incidents was not a result of peaceful demonstrations but of deliberate escalation by protest organizers.

In this sense, authorities have stated that actions taken by law enforcement agencies were in response to credible intelligence suggesting planned disruptions and potential sabotage. The registration of FIRs and detentions was conducted through proper legal procedures under the state’s obligation to maintain peace and security.

Furthermore, at Hudda Jail, the authorities have strongly denied any breach of legal protocols or abuse of detainees. In addition, official sources confirm that no enforced disappearance has occurred from within any prison premises. They also mentioned that the claims of torture and abuse are yet to be independently verified and appear to be part of a larger disinformation campaign aimed at maligning state institutions.

It is important to note that security forces operate under a mandate to protect the nation from internal threats and terrorism.

The propagation of emotionally charged terms like “genocide,” “resistance,” and “erasure” serve more as political tools than factual descriptions.

Moreover, in the interest of national unity and regional peace, it is essential to differentiate between genuine grievances and orchestrated campaigns designed to destabilize the state.

Meanwhile, Pakistan stands firm in its commitment to justice, due process, and the rule of law. The state has a duty not just to listen, but to act, lawfully and responsibly, against anyone who seeks to undermine its sovereignty under the guise of activism.
