Karachi: The European journal Eurasia Review has warned that terrorist organizations operating in Afghanistan have become a serious threat to Pakistan and the wider region.
According to the report, Russia is also facing major security concerns due to militant groups based in Afghanistan, as extremist networks are expanding their activities into Central Asian states bordering Afghanistan.
The journal highlights that the growing presence of these terrorist factions poses grave dangers for Pakistan and neighboring countries.
Russia believes that terrorist groups, including ISIS, are steadily gaining strength inside Afghanistan.
The report further notes that Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, has expressed deep concern over the escalating activities of ISIS-Khorasan.
Nebenzya stated that the Taliban’s counter-terrorism measures remain insufficient, while militant groups continue to fuel instability and attempt to position themselves as an alternative power.
Sergei Shoigu, Russia’s Secretary for Afghanistan at the UN Security Council, added that there is a rising risk of terrorist elements infiltrating neighboring countries and that these groups are receiving foreign funding to enhance their operations.
It is worth mentioning that the Indian-sponsored militants of Fitna al Khawarij have launched several militant-attacks in KP and Balochistan in the past many years.
All such terror groups are funded, trained and backed by India and have their havens and hideouts in Afghanistan.
Pakistan has stressed on Afghanistan to ensure that the militant groups do not use the Afghan soil to launch attacks on the Pakistani territory.
However, no serious measures have been taken by the Afghan government against the Indian-sponsored militants so far.
