Emergency landing in Karachi for India-bound foreign flight

A foreign cargo aircraft made a successful emergency landing at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday after reporting a technical fault while flying over the Arabian Sea.

KARACHI :  A foreign cargo aircraft made a successful emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday after reporting a technical fault while flying over the Arabian Sea.

The incident involved an IL76 cargo plane operated by Azerbaijan’s Silkway Airlines. The flight, ZP 4771, was en route from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to a city in India.

According to aviation sources, the plane had already crossed Pakistani airspace and was in Indian airspace over the Arabian Sea when it developed a technical snag at an altitude of 31,000 feet. Facing the emergency, the pilot promptly contacted the nearest air traffic control center in Karachi to request an immediate landing.

Permission was granted immediately, and the pilot skillfully guided the aircraft to a safe landing at the Karachi airport. The plane has since been parked at a remote bay of Terminal One for a technical inspection and necessary repairs. All safety protocols were followed during the incident.
