QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet has approved the introduction of an electric bike scheme aimed at facilitating the general public across the province.
The decision was taken during the 21st key meeting of the provincial cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
During the meeting, the cabinet expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for initiating major communication and education development projects in Balochistan.
Under the approved scheme, students, working women, and government employees will be provided electric bikes with a 30 percent subsidy, while ordinary citizens will be able to obtain electric bikes through easy installment plans.
According to the cabinet’s decision, the scheme will be implemented through bank financing.
The meeting also revealed that approximately 6 to 7 billion rupees are spent annually on the medical treatment of around 250,000 provincial government employees.
In response, the cabinet decided to introduce a health insurance scheme for government employees and approved the audit of advance medical payments and the Public Endowment Fund.
