QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan issues the notification to postpone the local government election in Quetta.
According to the sources, the Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a notification announcing to postpone the local government election in Quetta.
The Federal Constitution Court had issued stay-order over the conduction of the local government election in Quetta, Senator Kamran Murtaza of JUI , had put forth a petition given by a citizen Abdul Qadir to postpone the local government elections.
The petition wrote that the local government elections are held on voters-lists compiled from the constituencies drawn in 2017.
Whereas the stats of the constituencies made in 2023 have been issues.
So the local government elections should be conducted in the wake of the constituencies of 2023.
The Federal Constitutional court approved the petition and issued a stay-order over the conduction of the local government election.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued the above-mentioned notice in the light of the orders given by the court.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced the postponing of the election till any further orders.
