Four Jirga member arrested after Musa Khel incident

Musa Khel: Four members of the Jirga Committee arrested in the Musa Khel incident.

According to the details, the police has arrested four members of the Jirga Committee who ordered to force 8 people to walk on the embers after they were alleged of theft.

The incident took place when a shopkeeper complained about eight people that they committed theft from his shop.

Moreover, he insisted to follow a conservative tradition and asked the tribal Jirga to force the alleged thieves to walk on embers.

The tradition claims that those who have not really committed, will not be harmed by the burning embers.

The Jirga committee accepted his plea and asked the alleged people to walk on the embers.

The people were forced to follow the orders of the Jirga Committee and the footage of the incident went viral.

The district administration filed a case against the members of the Jirga Committee.

According to the Deputy Commissioner Musa Khel, Abdul Razaq khejak, as many as four people have been so far.

Three more members of the Jirga Committee will soon be arrested.

It is worth mentioning that another such incident had taken place in the Degari area of Quetta when some 18 members of the Jirga Committee had killed a young woman and a man in the name of honour killing.

The video of the sad incident had gone viral and it had sparked debates across the country.

Such incidents have raised concerns of the human rights in Pakistan on the global level.

The human rights organization stress to ensure the implementation of law-and-order and to provide the people with the safety against such conservative traditions.

The government too have called such Jirga system illegal after a series of some horrifies incidents has taken place as the results of the decisions carried out by Jirga members.
