ISLAMABAD: Muslims across Pakistan celebrated Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) on Saturday with great religious fervour and solemnity, offering special prayers for the victims of the recent floods.
The day, declared a public holiday, began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in each provincial capital. Worshippers offered special prayers after Fajr for the unity of the Muslim Ummah, the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, and the rehabilitation of millions of flood affectees.
This year, the government, under a resolution unanimously passed in both Houses of Parliament, organized special arrangements to commemorate 1447 Hijri as the 1500th blessed birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
President’s Message on Eid Milad-un-Nabi
President Asif Ali Zardari extended greetings to the nation and the Muslim Ummah on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. He urged the people to mould their individual and collective lives according to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
He described the occasion as a source of joy and devotion, emphasizing that the 1500th anniversary reinforced the need to implement the Prophet’s (PBUH) principles of justice, mercy, brotherhood, and peace in every sphere of life.
The President highlighted that the National Assembly and Senate had decided to commemorate this milestone at the national level through unanimous resolutions, reflecting the nation’s deep love and devotion to the Prophet (PBUH). He also noted that the OIC declared the year as a commemorative year for the Prophet’s 1500th birth anniversary, uniting the Muslim world in compassion.
He stressed that the Prophet’s (PBUH) life teaches justice, fairness, compassion, kindness, brotherhood, equality, and respect for humanity—values urgently needed in today’s world facing extremism, injustice, and social unrest.
President Zardari called on the nation to put aside differences and work together for development, echoing the Prophet’s (PBUH) message of unity, love, and brotherhood. He reminded citizens of their responsibility to help the weak, orphans, and needy, especially as Pakistan struggles with floods caused by climate change.
He praised ongoing relief efforts by the government, local administration, and humanitarian organizations and urged the nation to follow the Prophet’s (PBUH) example of selfless service. Concluding his message, he prayed for Allah Almighty to grant Pakistanis the ability to live by the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings and build a society based on peace and equality.
Prime Minister’s Message
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on the nation to renew its commitment to build Pakistan in line with the golden teachings of the Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH).
He said the blessed birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Makkah nearly 1500 years ago illuminated the world, transforming darkness into light and establishing new paths of justice, mercy, equality, and unity.
The Prime Minister noted that Pakistan and Muslims worldwide are marking the Prophet’s 1500th birth anniversary as the “Year of Rahmatul-lil-Alameen” (Mercy to All Creations). He said the resolutions passed by both Houses of Parliament reflected the collective resolve to integrate the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings into the country’s constitution, laws, and public life.
He stressed that the Prophet’s (PBUH) life provides a complete model for governance, justice, economics, trade, and social values, citing the Quranic verse: “Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for anyone who has hope in Allah and the Last Day.”
Highlighting the challenges of a rapidly changing world, the Prime Minister urged parents and teachers to guide the youth through the Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) so they may embrace morality, kindness, and truth and carry forward the Prophet’s (PBUH) message of love and peace.
He underscored that Pakistan’s real strength lies in unity, tolerance, and inclusivity. He called on citizens to reject prejudice, sectarianism, extremism, and hatred, and instead embrace empathy, solidarity, and harmony.

The Prime Minister asked Pakistanis to reaffirm their pledge to establish the country as a true Islamic welfare state based on the Prophet’s (PBUH) model of compassion and social justice.
