ECP to hold lg by-polls in Balochistan tomorrow

QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that by-elections for local government reserved seats will be held on August 3 in seven districts of Balochistan.

According to the ECP, polling will take place from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the districts of Zhob, Sherani, Loralai, Barkhan, Kalat, Khuzdar, and Surab.

Sources within the Election Commission revealed that a total of 25 candidates are contesting elections for 16 reserved seats. Among them, 15 candidates are vying for six women’s seats, while four candidates are contesting for two seats reserved for workers.

Additionally, three candidates are competing for one seat reserved for farmers, and three candidates are in the run for seven non-Muslim reserved seats.

The elections will involve 106 general councilors, who will cast their votes to elect representatives to the vacant reserved seats.
