Earthquake rattles Quetta

QUETTA: Mild tremors were felt in Quetta and nearby areas on Thursday.

The Seismological Center recorded the earthquake at 2.8 magnitude on the Richter scale. It occurred at a depth of 23 kilometers.

The tremors were reported around midday. They lasted only a few seconds. The epicenter was about 75 kilometers northwest of Quetta.

The quake caused brief panic among residents. No casualties or property damage were reported.

Local authorities and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said the situation was under control.

“There is no immediate threat. Our teams are on standby,” said a PDMA spokesperson.
