Earthquake Jolts Karachi, Balochistan

QUETTA: An earthquake struck Karachi and parts of Balochistan on Monday, triggering panic among residents.

Tremors were felt in several Karachi neighborhoods, including I.I. Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Clifton, PECHS, and DHA. Residents in SITE Area, Tipu Sultan Road, Pehlwan Goth, and Bahria Town also reported shaking.

The quake measured 5.2 in magnitude. Its depth was recorded at 12 kilometers. The epicenter was located near Somiani, about 87 kilometers northwest of Karachi.

Earlier, a separate earthquake hit Sibi and nearby areas in Balochistan. That tremor measured 3.2 in magnitude. Its epicenter was 53 kilometers southwest of Sibi.

Authorities said no casualties or damage were reported. Residents, however, rushed out of buildings in fear as the ground shook.
