Drone attack in Khyber a ‘blatant lie’: Report

ISLAMABAD: Authorities have denied reports of a drone strike in Shalobar area of Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkha, calling them “blatant lies.”

Security sources said no drone strike took place in the area.

Instead, terrorists associated with Fitn al Khawarij attacked five security force check posts overnight. Security forces, however, effectively repelled all attacks using small arms and mortars.

Seven militants were killed and several others injured during the clashes.

Officials dismissed claims by Abdul Ghani Afridi of a drone strike and civilian casualties, calling them propaganda by a “criminal-terror-drug-political network.”

Pictures circulated on social media purportedly showing injured wedding attendees were identified as young male militants. Security sources questioned why no women, children, or elderly were present.

Authorities also rejected claims of injuries reported by Hayatabad Medical Complex, saying the evidence was inconsistent with drone strike patterns.
