QUETTA: National Party leader and former Balochistan Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has voiced deep concern over the surging incidents of kidnapping for ransom in Kech district, describing the situation as extremely alarming, with prominent individuals, businessmen, and their children increasingly targeted.
He pointed out that while kidnappers are abducting people on one hand, the state’s current policies are severely hindering the province’s progress on the other.
Despite the construction of several roads, many remain plagued by problems; for instance, the Turbat-to-Mand road has become a nightmare for travelers, with daily attacks occurring even though funds are available.
Dr. Malik highlighted that contractors faced serious difficulties yesterday on the Kolwah and Hoshap-to-Awaran road projects.
He noted that even during past periods of insurgency, development work was never halted, nor did ordinary citizens face such hardships.
The former chief minister emphasized that Balochistan is currently passing through very challenging times, where development has stalled due to both the state’s approach and militant activities.
He urged both sides to seriously reconsider their policies and strategies to address the crisis.
It is worth mentioning that the crimes in Balochistan have been a massive concern over the years.
On account of its distant places, and difficult demography, Balochistan is a safe haven and hideout for the criminals who carry out intense crimes across the province.
The ongoing going challenges of law-and-order and security concerns have raised fears among the traders, transporters as well as the civilians.
There have been complains of robbery, extortion and theft across the province in the past many years.
Be it the national highways and the roads or the markets and the residential areas, the criminals carry out many such crimes not daily but on hourly basis.
However, the current government has taken some necessary measures in order to provide the people with the feeling of safety.
The police officials have vowed to show ‘Zero-Tolerance Policy’ for the criminals.
The raids are launched across many areas in which some high-profile criminals linked with the inter-provincial gangs have been held.
The gangs linked with the drugs, illegal weapons, robbery and theft have been arrested on a large scale in the recent times.
