DG PDMA Balochistan's convoy met an accident

Jaffar Abad: In Jaffarabad, a vehicle from the convoy of Director General PDMA Balochistan, Jehanzaib Khan, met with an accident, resulting in the death of a police officer, Safar Khan, while two constables sustained injuries.

According to police, the incident occurred near the Bypass Mamla area when the DG PDMA’s escort vehicle crashed. Jehanzaib Khan had been visiting Dera Allah Yar to assess the flood situation.

The deceased and the injured were shifted to Dera Allah Yar Hospital. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

Balochistan witnessed an alarming rise in road accidents throughout 2025, with hundreds of lives lost and thousands injured on national highways, commonly referred to as “killer roads.

” Officials and rescue services reported that the majority of crashes occurred due to reckless driving, over-speeding, and poor road infrastructure.

In January 2025, over 1,831 accidents were recorded across the province, leaving 39 dead and more than 2,400 injured.

A tragic bus overturn in Kacchi District alone claimed four lives and injured 31 passengers.

The situation worsened in April’s first week, when a record 809 road accidents were reported on major highways.

According to rescue officials, 13 people were killed while 1,072 suffered injuries.

Most of the incidents took place on the N-50 Quetta–Zhob–D.I. Khan highway (449 accidents) and the N-25 Quetta–Karachi highway (257 accidents), both notorious for frequent collisions.

In February, separate mishaps in Kalat and Mastung killed at least four people, while two brothers from Pishin lost their lives when their car skidded off the road.

Later in July, a pickup carrying wedding guests overturned near Chaman toll plaza, leaving three people dead and seven injured, while a motorcycle-truck collision in Mach critically injured two men.

Authorities and civil society have repeatedly raised concerns over the deadly condition of Balochistan’s highways.

Despite several calls for converting N-25 and N-50 into dual carriageways, little progress has been made.
