DERA GHAZI KHAN: Punjab Police averted a major tragedy by thwarting a terrorist plot linked to Fitna al-Khawarij, after recovering and defusing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a border area of Dera Ghazi Khan.
The operation was conducted jointly by Dera Ghazi Khan Police, the Special Operations Unit, and Elite Force teams in the sensitive border region near the Punjab–Khyber Pakhtunkhwa boundary.
The search operation was launched following credible intelligence reports about possible terrorist activity in the area. The security personnel discovered an IED planted near the Jade Wali graveyard. The device, officials said, had been intended to target security forces and disrupt peace in the region.
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately called in and successfully neutralised the explosive before it could cause damage. The operation was conducted under the close supervision of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Captain (Retd) Sajjad Hassan Khan and District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ghazi Khan.
