PESHAWAR: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, will hold an important press conference today in Peshawar.
The briefing, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Peshawar Corps Headquarters, is expected to address key developments in Pakistan’s security landscape. Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif will outline the measures being taken to counter terrorism and respond to recent security challenges.
The press conference follows the Corps Commanders’ Conference chaired by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, which reviewed major defense and strategic initiatives, including the Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif’s press briefing comes amid a surge in terrorist incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations, eliminating several Indian-sponsored militants in recent days.
The Pakistan Army has also suffered casualties during these operations, as several officers and soldiers embraced martyrdom while defending the nation.
Earlier today, ISPR in a statement stated that security forces have eliminated 30 Indian-sponsored terrorists involved in the October 7 terrorist incident that left 11 military personnel including two officers martyred in Orakzai district.
ISPR) said security forces have been conducting a series of retribution operations against the terrorists involved in the “heinous incident” that occurred in Orakzai earlier this week.
The militants killed in the latest operation belonged to a large formation of the Fitna-ul-Khawarij network, which has targeted both civilians and security personnel in an effort to destabilize the region, the statement added.
The counter-operation was carried out by security forces in the Jamal Maya area of Orakzai district following credible intelligence. The ISPR said the operation completely neutralized the group responsible for the October 7–8 assault.
