DG GDA visits Pak-China Friendship hospital, calls it a landmark CPEC project

GWADAR: Director General Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Moin-ur-Rehman Khan, visited the Pak-China Friendship Hospital in Gwadar, terming it a great project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and a vital healthcare facility not only for the people of Gwadar but also for surrounding regions.

The DG mentioned that the hospital is providing modern, high-quality healthcare services free of cost to the public. In this regard, the head of Campus, Dr. Affan Faiqzada, briefed the DG about the hospital’s facilities and operations. 

He informed that the hospital currently has a capacity of 150 beds and is operating multiple departments, including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Gynecology & Obstetrics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Dentistry, Radiology, and Urology. In the next phase, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Mammography departments will also be introduced.

He further shared that the hospital is equipped with a blood bank, a nutrition program, and operates in a paperless environment where medical records, prescriptions, and laboratory tests are digitally managed.

Furthermore, the hospital served 290,000 patients in its outpatient and emergency departments, while 8,287 patients received indoor treatment. In this sense, a total of 1,100 surgeries were conducted, 2,270 maternity cases were handled, 76,200 laboratory tests were performed, and 23,780 patients benefitted from X-rays, ultrasounds, and CT scans. On average, the hospital caters to 1,000 to 1,200 patients daily.

DG Moin-ur-Rehman Khan further revealed that there are plans to expand the hospital to 300 beds and establish a medical college as part of CPEC Phase-II.

“The Pak-China Friendship Hospital is not just a symbol of CPEC cooperation but also a lifeline for the people of Balochistan and beyond,” the DG concluded.
