Despite an 18-run loss to Afghanistan on Tuesday, the Pakistan cricket team remains at the top of the points table in the ongoing tri-nation T20 series.
Batting first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Afghanistan set a competitive target of 169 for 5 in their 20 overs. In response, Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled and was held to 151 for 9, falling short of the victory target.
This result means both Pakistan and Afghanistan have now won two of their three matches, placing them level on four points each. Pakistan retains the number one position due to a superior Net Run Rate (NRR), a statistical method used to break ties in league standings.
The host nation, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is in third place after losing both of its matches so far in the tournament.
