NASIRABAD: A historic ceremony was held in Dera Murad Jamali on Wednesday, marking the formal launch of a long-awaited initiative to provide regular ownership rights to local residents. Provincial Minister for Irrigation, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Imrani, presided over the event, heralding it as the fulfillment of a democratic promise.
Addressing a large gathering of dignitaries and citizens, Minister Imrani stated that the issue of land ownership had plagued the people for decades. He framed the current government’s action as part of a continuous struggle for public service, initiated during his first tenure and now brought to fruition. “We have always given practical proof of our political insight by serving the people,” he said, adding that providing these rights was a crucial step in that mission. He specifically credited the fulfillment of this pledge to the promise made by the “martyr of democracy,” former Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials including Commissioner Nasirabad Division Salahuddin Noorzai, former Federal Minister Mir Changiz Khan Jamali, and political and social leaders. Minister Imrani, alongside Deputy Commissioner Nasirabad Captain (R) Zulfiqar Ali Karrar and PPP Divisional President Mir Bilal Sadiq Imrani, distributed ownership rights forms among the beneficiaries. The Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner provided detailed guidance on the application process.
Mir Bilal Sadiq Imrani, in his address, expressed pride that the PPP government had initiated the process of delivering these “legitimate rights.” He praised Minister Imrani’s consistent advocacy for the people and described the ceremony as proof that residents were becoming the official owners of their homes. He extended gratitude to Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti and Minister Imrani for their practical efforts in resolving a fundamental issue for the local population.
Meanwhile tragedy struck a residential neighborhood in Quetta in the early hours of Saturday, when a massive, illegally installed water storage tank burst, killing a young girl and leaving five others, including women and children, seriously injured.
The horrific incident occurred around 5:00 am, when a large fiber-made “water bladder” with a reported capacity equivalent to 50 standard water tankers suddenly ruptured. The tank, which authorities confirmed was both illegally placed and unsecured, gave way with tremendous force. The resulting deluge created a powerful surge of water that slammed into a nearby house, collapsing its walls and sweeping through the structure while the family slept.
