Islamabad: The ongoing Monsoon season has caused hundreds of deaths across the countries so far and as many as some 289 people have lost their lives.
The spells of Monsoon rains started on June 26th in several parts of the countries.
In the last 24 hours alone, one person died and eight others were injured.
Since the start of the monsoon period, a total of 698 people has been injured nationwide.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) states that the deceased include 136 children, 102 men, and 51 women.
Punjab recorded the highest number of casualties, with 158 deaths and 556 injuries.
The report further mentions that a total of 1,580 houses have been damaged so far.
Additionally, 372 livestock were swept away, while 651 kilometers of roads and 53 bridges have sustained damage due to the heavy rains.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 64 people died and 81 were injured. Sindh reported 28 deaths and 40 injuries, while Balochistan recorded 20 fatalities and 4 injuries.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, 9 people lost their lives and 4 were injured, whereas Azad Kashmir reported 2 deaths and 10 injuries. Islamabad also witnessed 8 deaths and 3 injuries.
