QUETTA: A deadly accident has caused seven deaths in the Chagai area of Balochistan.
According to the details, an oil tanker collided with a passenger van on the Reko-Diq Site in Chagai. The incident caused deaths of seven passengers travelling in the passengers-coach. Many people sustained serious injuries during the accident.
The police and the rescue teams immediately arrived at the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured people to the hospital.
The media reports say the the passengers died in the accident were Afghan nationals.
The report say that the Afghan nationals aimed to illegally cross into Iran.
The the driver of the van is said to be resident of Taftan who aimed to help the passengers to cross into Iran , however, his van collided with an oil tanker causing deadly accident.
It is worth mentioning that the in the past few weeks many Afghan nationals have lost their lives attempting to cross into Iran. Some 40 people were found dead in the Iranian border area due to severe snowfall and the cold.
It was a few weeks earlier when some Afghan nationals were killed by the Iranian border security forces while attempting a forced entry in Iran.
Afghan nationals have increasingly been reported crossing illegally into neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan and Iran, due to ongoing economic hardship, insecurity, and limited opportunities in Afghanistan.
Many individuals attempt these crossings without valid travel documents, using informal border routes to escape poverty, unemployment, or conflict-related pressures.
The situation has placed additional strain on border security systems and local resources in both countries.
Pakistan and Iran have responded by tightening border controls and increasing deportations of undocumented Afghan migrants, citing security, economic, and legal concerns.
Humanitarian organizations, however, have raised concerns about the safety and rights of migrants, emphasizing the need for coordinated regional solutions, legal migration pathways, and humanitarian support to address the root causes driving illegal crossings.
