DC, ADC Hub removed for issuing illegal domicile certificates

Scandal of seeking for jobs on fake degrees unveiled

HUB:In a significant crackdown on administrative corruption, the Balochistan government has suspended the Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Hub district for their alleged involvement in a massive domicile certificate fraud.

Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan issued the orders, suspending Deputy Commissioner Nisar Ahmed Langove and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ali Raza Khoso for 90 days. The action was taken under Section 6 of the Balochistan Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Act 2011, following the damning findings of a High-Power Committee’s fact-finding inquiry.

The inquiry was launched after serious allegations emerged that the senior officials were issuing domicile certificates to non-local individuals, bypassing legal protocols. The investigation confirmed these allegations, revealing a widespread racket.

According to the official report, a staggering 309 out of 409 reviewed domicile certificates were found to be illegal. Furthermore, 113 out of 422 local certificates were also declared fake. Crucially, these documents were issued without the mandatory signatures of the local verification committee, rendering them fraudulent.

The report highlighted that the majority of these illegally issued certificates were granted to individuals hailing from other provinces, primarily Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as from other districts within Balochistan. The scandal has raised serious concerns about the manipulation of local demographics and the integrity of official records in the strategically important Hub district. The 90-day suspension allows for further investigation and potential disciplinary proceedings against the accused officers.

Meanwhile in a powerful display of unity, the Balochistan Assembly unanimously passed a joint resolution on Friday, demanding an immediate end to the prolonged and crippling gas and electricity load shedding plaguing the province.

The resolution, presented by JUI member Asghar Ali Tareen during a session chaired by Speaker Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, highlighted the severe public suffering. Tareen stated that gas cuts during harsh winters and electricity outages in extreme summers have made life “unbearable” for residents across all districts.
