ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the Dawn Group received government advertisements worth PKR 860 million over the past 13 months.
In an exclusive interview with WE News, he rejected claims that government ads to Dawn had been completely stopped. He said the group could provide details of ads issued during this period.
Tarar added that advertisements are issued as part of various promotional campaigns and have no fixed limit.
However, he noted that large media groups should not rely solely on government ads. He urged them to explore other revenue sources instead of depending entirely on official advertising.
The minister expressed regret that Dawn Media Group laid off employees despite receiving substantial government advertisement funds.
