Data-Selling Ring Busted in South Punjab

MULTAN: A gang involved in selling the personal data of prominent Pakistani personalities to hostile foreign intelligence agencies for minor sums of money has been arrested in South Punjab.

During a press conference in Islamabad, Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Syed Khurram Ali, revealed that the syndicate was selling sensitive information belonging to senior government officials and high-profile figures for just a few thousand rupees.

Syed Khurram Ali stated that the gang has a long history of illicit activities, operating the data-selling ring as a family business.

Emphasizing the severity of the crime, he warned that any facilitators who helped the suspects gain unauthorized access to the data would also face strict legal action.

Addressing a separate matter regarding the harassment case involving actress Momina Iqbal, the DG NCCIA mentioned that the Lahore office is currently handling the investigation.
