DASHT: In a significant step to address energy poverty, home solar systems were distributed to deserving families in the Union Council of Dasht. The initiative was funded through the annual Union Council budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
A formal ceremony was held to hand over the systems, with Assistant Commissioner Dasht Sheik Hayat and Union Council Chairman Mehrab Dashti attending as special guests. They personally distributed the solar units to women from the beneficiary families.
Speaking at the event, Assistant Commissioner Sheik Hayat praised Chairman Dashti’s efforts in bringing basic facilities to the people’s doorsteps. He stated that providing solar systems would play a vital role in easing daily hardships and would be a “milestone” in reducing the area’s backwardness and improving living standards.
Chairman Mehrab Dashti highlighted that most parts of Dasht are deprived of basic facilities like electricity, causing serious difficulties for residents. He explained that the solar systems are intended to bring light to homes and enable other essential amenities. He also emphasized that the UC budget is being used in a transparent manner, strictly for public needs, to ensure every deserving family benefits fairly.
The ceremony was also attended by local council officials and community leaders, who all commended the chairman’s practical public service measures. Local residents also expressed strong appreciation for the project, believing such initiatives are crucial for ending the area’s deprivations and solving fundamental problems.
