ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has focused on the need for effective measures to prevent terrorism emerging from Afghan territory against Pakistan.
Dar welcomed the agreement reached in Doha on Wednesday night, describing it as “a positive first step in the right direction.” He expressed optimism that the development would help pave the way for lasting peace and stability in the region.
“The agreement is a welcome move, and we appreciate the constructive role played by our brotherly nations, Qatar and Turkiye,” Dar said.
He added that the upcoming meeting in Turkiye would focus on establishing a “credible and verifiable monitoring mechanism” to ensure the implementation of the commitments made in Doha.
Furthermore, the foreign minister underlined that preventing the use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan is a crucial step toward regional peace.

In this regard, Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over the growing number of cross-border attacks from militants operating in Afghanistan. Islamabad has urged the interim Afghan authorities to take decisive action against terrorist groups targeting Pakistan.
Moreover, Senator Dar reasserted Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability and peaceful coexistence.
“Our goal is to promote security, cooperation, and mutual respect among all neighboring countries,” he said, adding that Pakistan remains ready to work with Afghanistan and other partners to achieve these objectives.

The foreign minister’s indications come amid renewed efforts by regional stakeholders to address the security challenges that continue to affect Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.
