Dalbandin faces health crisis from incomplete sewage drains

DALBANDIN: A billion-rupee master plan for Dalbandin, the headquarters of Chagai district, has completely stalled, leaving the city’s bazaar in a state of disrepair and causing severe difficulties for citizens and shopkeepers.

Approved in 2019 by the previous government, the project’s work was delayed from the beginning and later stopped completely due to alleged political interference. This has resulted in half-finished roads and broken sewage drains that are now filled with stagnant, foul-smelling water.

The situation is causing major travel problems for everyone and raising public health concerns over the potential spread of diseases from the accumulated waste and dirty water.

Local residents, political circles, and social groups have expressed surprise and frustration over the silence from their elected representatives, the opposition parties, and the local Traders’ Association (Anjuman Tajran), none of whom are taking action to address the issue.

The public is now demanding that the Chief Secretary of Balochistan and other high-ranking officials intervene immediately. They are calling for the work to be completed as soon as possible and for action to be taken against the negligent contractor to prevent the wastage of billions of rupees in public funds.
